Notes:MV produced a road-going sports bike based on their very successful 500 GP engine back in 1951 but it was to be 1967 before a road-going 4 cylinder MV was available to the public - for those who could afford it. Count Agusta was determined that no privateer racers would compete on MV machinery and so he deliberately produced a heavy and luxurious 600cc black tourer with shaft drive, car headlight and no less than 3 horns. Despite the Counts plans many were bought to be converted into 500cc race bikes. When the Count died in 1971 the company converted the tourer into a gorgeous red white and blue sports bike with curvaceous tank, and sports seats and guards. 750cc and four carbs gave much better performance and a twin drum brake replaced the cable operated discs. The heavy frame and shaft drive remained. Many owners did the same thing with the result that few 600s have survived.
